How Juice Kitchen Was Born
This week I had the pleasure of meeting Richard, the owner of Chelmsford’s finest Juice Kitchen. Established in August 2016, this juice bar and healthy eatery has gone from strength to strength, providing the city with fresh food, delicious juices and a meal prep range for those with a busy lifestyle.
Richard’s background hadn’t always consisted of working in the health and food industry. After working for many years as an estate agent, he soon realised that the job was no longer for him. A diagnosed medical condition meant that he needed to live a healthier lifestyle and make a change. Whilst on holiday in Malta he came across a juice bar named Dr Juice that brought healthy eating on the go to the small island. Inspired by what he found and realising that Essex lacked similar businesses, the idea of Juice Kitchen was born.

The Ethos behind the Juice Kitchen is the backbone of the company. The team are dedicated, passionate and all play a part that goes deeper than just their job title. Each staff member brings value and experience to the business besides their friendly nature and smiling faces.
Outside of the team lie the community and the businesses they work alongside. The ingredients are sourced locally, products are made in store daily and they successfully keep food waste to a minimum. The community focus stretches to helping CHESS, the Churches Homeless Emergency Support Scheme, by taking part in their annual sleep out to raise awareness as well as having held an event to cater for 150 of the residents. They do more than just provide delicious food and smoothies, they truly care about their customers and building strong relationships with others.
Juice Kitchen caters for everyone; meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and those who are gluten-free. As the business has grown, the menu has too, offering even more options for vegans than ever before. The hot menu was introduced a few months after opening along with the Chef Prepared Meal Prep service. They Prep up to 2000 meals a week and deliver straight to your door on a Wednesday and Sunday depending on your order preferences. Unlike other meal prep businesses that solely cater for body builders and fitness fanatics, this caters for everyday individuals too with a menu that changes every 6-10 weeks.
On the meal prep menu you will find 4 main vegan options including a sweet potato & butterbean stew, smoky tomato & chickpea penne pasta, a roasted pepper & cashew salad and zucchini balls to go alongside your choice of carbs and veg. In store you will find most of these options as well as a selection of vegan salads, wraps and vegan friendly snacks, not to mention the raw vegan desserts. The raw cakes and bars are provided by Hedi Hearts, a passionate clean eating blogger based in Essex who creates her healthy takes on Britain’s favourites such as Snickers bars. Twinned with a latte made from dairy-free milk of your choice or a juice; they are indefinitely a must-try!
What I Recommend For Vegans
If visiting the Juice Kitchen, I would highly recommend trying the following:
-The sweet potato & butterbean stew on a bed of quinoa topped with roasted Mediterranean vegetables
-The “Thirst Quencher” juice made with strawberries, lemon, pear and apple with a slice of the raw vegan snickers cake
-A soya latte with a raw brownie or a packet of The Protein Ball Co. Goji & Coconut
